What is Allergan Anti-Wrinkle Made From?

The key ingredient in Anti-Wrinkle is Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium found in the tissues of certain mammals and fish, as well as in natural environments such as forests and lakes. Although this bacterium has paralyzing effects, it is safely used in medical treatments when properly administered.

How Does Anti-Wrinkle Work?

When Botox is injected, it blocks nerve signals to the muscles in the treated area, causing them to relax. This muscle relaxation prevents contractions, which helps smooth out wrinkles and folds. The effects of Anti-Wrinkle injections typically last between 3 to 6 months. With repeated treatments, patients often see a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles as the muscles become accustomed to staying relaxed, even after the injection’s effects wear off.

BOTOX Cosmetic is used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, crow's feet, forehead lines, and platysma bands (vertical neck bands) in adults. It works by relaxing the underlying muscles, which causes dynamic wrinkles to fade.

Applications:

BOTOX® Cosmetic (Type A) is indicated in adult patients for the temporary improvement in the appearance of:
– Moderate to severe glabellar lines associated with corrugator and/or procerus muscle activity
– Moderate to severe lateral canthal lines associated with orbicularis oculi activity
– Moderate to severe forehead lines associated with frontalis activity
– Moderate to severe platysma bands associated with platysma muscle activity
